Dr. Javier Sierra holds licensures as a licensed mental health counselor and as a licensed marriage and family therapist. He has over 20 years of national and international experience in the counseling field, helping others deal with the difficulties of life, and reach their maximum potential.

Javier’s experience includes helping individuals, couples, families, and groups on a variety of issues, specifically those related to biracial and bicultural couples, anger management, depression, and anxiety. In addition, he has dedicated a significant part of his professional life to train, supervise and mentor other counselors. He is a Certified Prepare-Enrich facilitator (www.prepare-enrich.com), and counsels and mentors engaged and newlywed couples. One of his professional passions is to help couples enjoy their relationship, reason why he is an avid learner and practitioner of Emotionally Focused Therapy, the most successful couple’s therapy model available.

Dr. Sierra was born and raised in Honduras. As a Latino, he has a strong interest in counseling other Hispanic immigrants in their native language, Spanish. He has led national and international workshops and conferences for the Hispanic community on topics such as parenting, effective communication, intimacy, and marriage.

Javier invests a substantial part of his time teaching, supervising, and mentoring counselors in training. He is a Professor of Counseling at Colorado Christian University. He also teaches as an adjunct professor at Asbury Theological Seminary and the Reformed Theological Seminary in their Counseling programs.

Dr. Sierra received both his doctorate and master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College, Illinois. He is married and has five children and three granddaughters. Javier enjoys reading, listening to a variety of music like jazz, classical, and of course, Latin music, and watching movies with his wife.
